You will be taught the basic theory and fundamentals of photography. At PSS, we believe that it is essential for one to be well-versed in the fundamentals. You will be trained to develop a creative approach to capture images with impact.

 

Lesson 1: Basic Theories – ABCDEs in Photography

 

Lesson 2: Hands on with Camera -- Exposure / Composition / DOF

(Classroom / Outdoor Practical session)

Exposure Control with different metering systems:

  • Centre weighted, matric/ evaluative , partial,
  • Effective use of AE / AF lock

Composition: illustration with simple subject

  • Rule of third
  • Leading line
  • Magic of triangle

Depth of Field (DOF):

  • Capturing subject with wide DOF
  • Capturing subject with shallow DOF
  • Effective DOF control for close up of subject

Lesson 3: Photography Techniques

Practical session at Botanical Garden:

  • Creating motion with slower shutter speed
  • Fast shutter speed to freeze moving subject
  • Panning with moving subject
  • Use of ND, Polarizing Filter

Lesson 4: Photo Critique on images taken during the previous Outings

Lesson 5: Understanding Lighting and Flashlight Photography

(Practical Session, model fee applied)

The Magic of lighting

  • Fill in with reflector, flashlight and light modifier
  • Bounced from ceiling, wall

Lesson 6: Night Photography and Practical Session

(Night Photography at Anderson Bridge - On the same day as Lesson 5)

  • Magic hour with magic number
  • Producing trail light with long exposure
  • Zoom effect

Lesson 7: Photo Critique and Course Wrap-up

Pre-requisites : Participants needs to own a DSLR. Please bring along the DSLR on the first lesson.

  • The course will commence when it meets the minimum requirement of 8 people per class.
  • Should there be a change in commencement date, you shall be informed as soon as possible via phone or email. Course fees, once paid, are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances, you may request for a reschedule to a later course, if available.
  • Course fees do not include any model, transport and miscellaneous costs to be incurred during outings and practical sessions (where applicable). These will be made known to participants prior to the event, where possible, and shall be borne by the participants.
