Macro Photograhy Course

Ever wonder what Macro Photography is all about, how do one capture small objects thru your DSLR lenses and do you know that Macro photography is even used in today's commerical photography?

In this course, you will be taught on the basic theory and fundamentals of Macro photography and trained to develop a creative approach to capture these tiny objects thru your DSLR.

Module 1

- Introduction to Macro Photography
- Macro Standard Equipments & DIY/ Alternate Equipments
- Basic & Advanced Camera Settings.
- Tips to Hunting Specific Insects.
- Dos & Don'ts on the Field.
- Post Production Tips (I)
- Briefing for Lesson 2 to 4.

Module 2 (Day Outing)

- Hands On Demo for Insects.
- Hands On Demo for Floral & Fauna
- Hands On Demo for Nature Symmetrical Patterns
- Hands On Demo for Tricks.
- Hands On Demo for Flash Isolation Techniques.
- Student Shoot
- Photo Critics.

Module 3 (Night Outing)

- Demo Guide to Night Macro & Hunting.
- Demo on Use of artificial lights.
- On Site Briefing for Dos & Don'ts for for Night Macro.
- Student Shoot
- Photo Critics

Module 4

- Macro Application for Commercial Photography.
- The importance of White Balance Correction.
- Demo on Table Top Macro Studio Set up.
- Demo Shoot.
- Demo for Tricks & Tips.
- Student Shoot.
- Photo Critics.

Module 5

- Demo on Post Processing Macro Photos.
- Processing Softwares.
- Processing Guidelines.
- Student Hands on Tryouts.
- Photo Critics.

Module 6

- Application of Techniques.
- 1 hour Shoot, 1 hour Processing.
- Photo Critics.
- Course Conclusions & Debriefing.

 

Assessment
Upon completion of the course, participants are required to submit a set of six 8” x 10” or 8” x 12” mounted prints for assessment. Course certificates will only be awarded upon successful submission.
Course Details
Duration           : 12 weeks (2 hours per session)
Time                 : 7.30pm to 9.30pm weekdays (except outings)
Fees                 : $160 (member) $260 (non-member)

Mandarin and special timeslot courses subject to instructor availablity and minimum participation take-up rate. Participation take-up rates vary from course to course.
Should there be a change in commencement date, you shall be informed as soon as possible via phone or email.
Course fees, once paid, are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances, you may request for a reschedule to a later course, if available.
Course fees do not include any model, transport and miscellaneous costs to be incurred during outings and practical sessions (where applicable). These will be made known to participants prior to the event, where possible, and shall be borne by the participants.
All courses are conducted at The Photographic Society of Singapore located at Selegie Arts Centre (yellow building opposite PoMo), 30 Selegie Road, Singapore 188351.
Participant intending to purchase photographic equipment for any course/s are advised to seek instructor recommendations during the first lesson.
