Grand Opening of Children of the World Exhibition
More than 100 guests attended the opening of the Children of the World exhibition at the ION Art Gallery in Singapore’s ION Orchard on 24 March 2011. They include Ambassadors, High Commissioners, deputy heads of mission, and PSS members and friends. PSS Honorary Patron and Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow Tan attended a preview of the exhibition together with Mrs Mah. The President of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), Mr Emile Wanderscheid officiated at the prize presentation ceremony
The Children of the World project was undertaken by PSS in partnership with FIAP to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of both PSS and FIAP. A total of 40 FIAP Operational Members from 39 countries participated in this international competition which featured how children in different parts of the world go about their life. It was also intended to support the efforts of UNESCO to better understand the situation of underprivileged children around the world, so that more could be done to help them.
A book featuring the 137 selected images, including the prize winners, was published by PSS in conjunction with the exhibition.
